The spare, geometrical silver design of Pitcher 1010 reflects the functionalistic idiom of Bernadotte’s style and pairs handcrafted sterling silver with an ebony handle. Bernadotte replaced Georg Jensen’s typical hammered finish with a clean and smooth surface. Pitcher 1010 is also called the ice-water jug due to the functional sieve that works as a strainer hindering ice cubes or lemon pieces from slipping out. The Pitcher became a design icon in 1980 when Sarah Booth Conroy wrote in The Washington Post, “the Sterling Silver ice-water jug, designed by Bernadotte in 1952, is fit not only for a king but a god.” Handmade in Denmark.
